What are the three most important Questions about sin?

Call it Sin, iniquity, or transgression; any action, thought, or attitude that goes against God’s perfect and holy standards is categorized as a Sin. We are all made in the image of God, and we are sacred beings who represent the creator and are worthy of His love. Sin is failing to honor that image of God inside each of us. We are defiling that image by sinning.

So, this failure separates us from God and disrupts the harmonious relationship He desires with His creation. Sin is that blockage.

That is why Jesus has categorized committing sin into two broad sections.
The first one is when we fail to love God with all our heart, mind, and strength. The second one is when we fail to love our fellow humans, who are carrying the image of that living God, as we would love ourselves.

It’s there in Matthew 22. The greatest commandments, according to Jesus, are from the Law of Moses.

So these are the 3 big questions to ask. One should ask:

#1: How does Sin begin?

Sin originates from our inner thoughts, intentions, and motivations. Jesus emphasized this in the New Testament: that sin is not limited to physical acts but includes the condition of our hearts. For instance, even harboring the slightest bit of hatred or envy in our hearts for anybody is considered sinful in God’s eyes, and just like that, we fall into God’s grace.

God wants PERFECTION for His presence to manifest. But we are not perfect at all. We might say 20 lies in a span of hours and not even know it. We are that sinful. Always. We are just not mindful of them. We humans are designed to worship God. But if we choose not to worship the creator, then something has to replace that. What else can replace God other than sin? If we don’t worship God, we worship the profane, we worship an addiction, and we worship our belongings. Even people create fake gods for themselves just so they can worship something and not the creator.

That is the reason why God wants us to worship Him, if not, we will automatically be worshiping our own custom made Sin. The Sin that best keeps us captive and isolated from God’s grace. This is why Jesus had to die and rise from the dead to become that perfect sacrificial Lamb in John chapter 10. He is a good shepherd. And that is the good news. Hallelujah!!

#2: What does Sin do?

Sin leaves us spiritual orphans. There comes a wall, a strong barrier of some sort, that will break all your connections with God. The relationship with our Father in heaven gets hindered, and it breaks.

When Jesus bore our sins during the crucifixion, He was separated from God. His Father left His child alone to suffer the consequences of Sin. You will read that in Matthew 27, Jesus cried out to God, Why have you forsaken me? And there was no answer back to Him.

It was sin that broke His connection to the Father. At that moment, Jesus was an orphan because of us. For anyone who walks closely with God, this separation from God and not finding His presence in their everyday work and lifestyle is death. We don’t want to feel like orphans. We were orphans when we were spiritually blind, and we will not return to that dark place just because some sinful desire looked intriguing to me. For me personally, It is a NIGHTMARE to live without experiencing the presence of God. I do not want the kingdom of darkness to get any hold of my soul.

Will will definitely talk about this in detail in a future episode.

#3: Where does Sin lead you?

Sin is the embodiment of all worldly desires that our flesh can enjoy. Sin is born from lustful desires and temptations. And then, from a thought, it becomes a roller coaster ride until that sin is converted into an action.

But acting upon such desires, leads to grave consequences. Remember, you are committing sin with your own free will. And where there is great free will, there are great consequences for the choices made with that free will.

James 1:15 says:

“Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin: and sin, when it is fully accomplished, it brings death.

Sin will lead you to death. And there is no turning back unless you come in humility, Repent genuinely, and confess all your Sins to God. You need to seek His forgiveness and believe that Jesus died for your sins. You won’t be forgiven otherwise.

People never take Sin so seriously. Because at first, sin looks so innocent and fun. It feels wrong, but we vow that we will do it just once and never again. The very nature of Sin is attractive from a distance. Its true nature is seen once you are in it, doing that sinful act. Then it reveals its true colors. Then people realize that it was never attractive to begin with, it is ugly and degrades your soul.

Today, every bit of entertainment, commercial product, and billboard sells something or other that tempts us to sin one way or another. Oh!! The inequity! Even many believers don’t consider that Sin will kill them.
